FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of generating neutron radiation and can be used when generating radiation sources for calibrating X-ray sensors, determining radiation resistance of elements of electronic equipment and for other purposes. Method comprises forming a discharge with a plasma focus by feeding a high-voltage pulse to a discharge chamber filled with hydrogen isotopes, wherein the gas in the discharge chamber is pre-ionised by feeding a high-voltage pulse to the electrodes of the gas-discharge chamber, after which the main high-voltage pulse is exposed in the interelectrode gap. With the help of the influx system, non-stationary initial distribution of working gas is set so that concentration of gas increases in the direction of current-plasma shell movement from the point of its formation to the point of its maximum compression, and initial place of current-plasma shell formation is set by means of additional electrode, between which and external electrode glow discharge is ignited.
EFFECT: technical result is higher stability of devices and high output of neutron radiation.
