METHOD OF AMPLITUDE TWO-DIMENSIONAL DIRECTION-FINDING Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC G01S5/04

Abstract RU 2686113 C1

FIELD: radio equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used in ground-based and aircraft radio engineering systems for all-field determination of the direction of radio-frequency sources. Method of amplitude two-dimensional direction-finding includes reception of emitted signal by means of identical antennas with symmetric radiation patterns and uniform overlapping of sector of spherical view, measurement of received signals amplitude, on them determination of horizontal and vertical cross sections of angular spectrum, by maximum of which azimuth and elevation angle are determined, wherein, in addition, as a weighted average, value of antenna orientation vectors proportional to measured amplitudes, a vector of two-dimensional bearing is determined, from which a combined estimate of azimuth and elevation angle is performed. First, vertical section is determined at point of initial estimate of azimuth, then horizontal section at point of obtained elevation angle, wherein regions of determination of sections are limited by limits of errors of corresponding primary estimates, which are calculated before beginning of direction finding process. In the four-element system, the antennae are oriented from the centre of the tetrahedron perpendicular to its faces.

EFFECT: wider range of applicability to systems of four antennae and reduced volume of operations when determining and maximizing the angular spectrum due to reduction of the region of maximization of 54–90 times.
