FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to portable blood analyte concentration meters using a test strip. Analyte meter comprises: a port for a strip port, configured to receive a test strip, wherein said opening extends to a port connector for the strip, which comprises: a first contact for detecting a digital strip detection signal when the test strip is inserted into the port for the strip; and a second contact for detecting a digital sample detection signal, when sample is applied on inserted test strip, as well as -display, and control circuit electrically connected to first and second contacts. At that, control circuit is configured to support analyzer meter in low power mode in absence of detection as digital signal of strip detection, and the digital sample detection signal, and when detecting the digital signal of the strip detection, but not the digital sample detection signal so that the blood sample is applied to the test strip, control circuit is configured to perform a self-test sequence and to display a message on the display, and thereafter, the analyte meter returns to low power mode, wherein the control circuit is configured to switch the analyzer to the active mode, thereby activating the analyte current measurement circuit in response to detection of both the digital sample detection signal and the digital strip detection signal.

EFFECT: possibility of detecting application of a sample on a test strip by means of a digital circuit and providing delay of feeding analogue components of the circuit before applying the sample.
