FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of laser welding, in particular to the method of protecting the optical laser head at the beginning of welding. Laser exposure is started on output process planks. Laser beam power is increased uniformly for 1–2 seconds from 0 kW to power required for effective metal fusion so that at the moment of laser beam output from process planks to welded surface steam-gas channel is stable.
EFFECT: technical result is protection of glass of laser optical head from splashes at the beginning of laser welding without using additional equipment while increasing efficiency of welding process due to reduced work on replacement of protective glass.
