DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE OF STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN SOFT TISSUES OF THE PARAVERTEBRAL AREA AFTER SURGICAL CORRECTION OF THE SPINE Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B8/08

Abstract RU 2687015 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to traumatology, orthopedics and ultrasonic diagnostics, and can be used for diagnostics of structural changes in paravertebral soft tissues of back in postoperative period after surgical correction of spinal column. Method involves examination of paravertebral soft tissues in the surgical area by horizontal scanning of the muscular apparatus along the length of the spine. Ultrasound examination is performed on 2nd postoperative day in a projection zone of the metal structure in the spine. Scanning is performed along the spinal column on both sides in the projection of the postoperative suture. Hypoechogenic or anechogenic zone of sub-muscular localization is detected, its anterior-posterior size and maximum thickness are determined. Hematoma of the postoperative period with no significant clinical manifestations is diagnosed with a maximum thickness of up to 5.0 mm. At a maximum thickness of 5.0 mm to 10 mm, hematoma is diagnosed, which can cause a postoperative complication, and the need for conservative treatment is stated. If the maximum thickness is more than 10 mm, hematoma is diagnosed with a high risk of postoperative complication requiring surgical treatment.

EFFECT: method provides higher diagnostic quality of postoperative complications accompanying spine correction operations by detecting hypoechogenic and anechogenic zones.
