FIELD: microbiology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to microbiology and can be used for identifying the protective action of microorganisms on a hemoglobin molecule. For this, a microorganism culture under study is grown in a liquid nutrient medium, a supernatant is separated from microbial cells by centrifugation, and a control sample is prepared from the liquid nutrient medium in parallel with a test sample. Test and control samples are further passed through bacterial filters and an erythrocyte suspension is added to each sample, all samples are incubated, centrifuged, and a supernatant of conditionally pathogenic microorganism capable of forming methemoglobin is added to all samples. Mixture is incubated, the erythrocyte suspension is lysed and the optical density of the lysate is measured at a wavelength of 630 nm and the level of formation of methemoglobin in the test and control samples is calculated. Protective effect of the microorganism under study on a hemoglobin molecule is estimated by the degree of formation of methemoglobin in the experiment compared with the control.

EFFECT: invention provides a method for identifying the protective action of microorganisms on a hemoglobin molecule and may be a selection criterion for biotechnologically promising microorganisms for producing medicinal and probiotic preparations.
