FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: device for catalytic treatment of exhaust gases includes a substrate formed by connection of multiple separate elements. Separate element comprises multiple cells. Substrate is a combination of three-dimensional (3D) structure and contains one or more: a) porous metal filler (PMF); b) microriffled metal grid; c) microriffled jagged foil; d) inorganic fiber woven matrix material. Said cells have cell density in range of 20 to 1,300 cells per square inch (cpsi), preferably 50 to 600 cpsi, and said elements of said substrate are combined to form different geometries, such as round, oval, square, rectangular, toroidal, banana-shaped, layered toroidal, etc., each with bypass channel or without it and for different sizes.
EFFECT: disclosed particulates combustion catalyst overcomes the risks of failure due to continuous accumulation of trapped solid impurities by creating an alternative open flow path in case of overfilling with soot, thereby limiting backpressure within tolerable limits.
