FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry, particularly to utilization of spent galvanic nickel plating. Method comprises treatment of electrolyte with an alkaline reagent, wherein the alkaline reagent used is an alkali metal titanate, having a layer structure and introduced into the solution gradually with constant vigorous stirring, then separating the residue and drying, and the formed neutralization product in the form of powder is used as a catalyst for redox processes in complex purification of smoke and exhaust gases from nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide. In other versions, the formed neutralization product in form of powder is used as a photocatalyst when purifying water from contamination with organic compounds or as a photoactive semiconductor material in photovoltaic systems.
EFFECT: technical result consists in impart high functional properties to product of recycling.
