FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for producing semiconducting materials that are photoactive in a visible region of the solar spectrum. Method comprises treating a potassium titanate having a layer structure with an aqueous solution of a manganese salt at a ratio of the concentration of the transition metal in the aqueous solution to mol/g (C) to the dose of potassium titanate to be treated in mol/g (D), lying within 10-5≤C/D≤5⋅10-3. Surfactant additive with a concentration of at least 0.01 % is added to the solution. Treatment is carried out for about 1 hour, maintaining the pH of the solution at a pH of 6 to 8. Product isolated from the solution is dried at a temperature of not more than 200 °C and not lower than 60 °C.
EFFECT: invention provides a material having enhanced photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical activity.
