SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol generating device which comprises a reservoir for fluid releasing a carrier and a heater, and an aerosol-generating system containing said aerosol-generating device. Aerosol generating device comprises a liquid container releasing the carrier and heater, wherein the reservoir and the release vehicle during use of the aerosol generating device are arranged to allow movement of the liquid from the reservoir to the release agent, releasing carrier and heater are arranged such that said heater and release carrier are in physical contact with each other, aerosol-forming device further comprises means for reversibly interrupting physical contact between the release carrier and the heater such that an air gap is formed between the heater and the release agent, and the device is configured to activate the heater when a gap is formed between the heater and the release carrier.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is the possibility to provide the consumer with a smoking system with the possibility of more accurate control of the liquid dose evaporated during each inhaling.
