FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of metals from corrosion in neutral aqueous media and can be used for protection against corrosion destruction of car body and its bottom. Water-soluble inhibitor of metal corrosion includes sodium tripolyphosphate and a borate-containing compound, wherein as a borate-containing compound it contains diethylene tetraborate ammonium compound of composition (NH4)2B4O7⋅2C2H8N⋅2H2O, in terms of anhydrous salt, with the following ratio of initial components, wt%: sodium tripolyphosphate 10.0–20.0, diethylene tetraborate ammonium 80.0–90.0.
EFFECT: improved anticorrosion properties, longer service life of black metal equipment.
