FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of converting Fischer-Tropsch liquids and waxes into lubricant base stock and/or engine fuel. Method of converting Fischer-Tropsch liquids and waxes into lubricant base stock and/or transportation fuel comprises (a) feeding a Fischer-Tropsch wax, after hydrotreatment, to a first isomerisation unit to produce isomerised Fischer-Tropsch wax; (b) combining an isomerised Fischer-Tropsch liquid with the isomerised Fischer-Tropsch wax to create a mixture of the isomerised Fischer-Tropsch liquid and the isomerised Fischer-Tropsch wax; and (c) feeding said mixture into a fractionation column to separate the mixture into a base stock fraction and at least one engine fuel fraction; wherein step (b) comprises feeding Fischer-Tropsch liquid into a hydrotreatment unit until the isomerised Fischer-Tropsch liquid is combined with isomerised Fischer-Tropsch wax and feeding the hydrotreated Fischer-Tropsch liquid into a second isomerisation unit to obtain isomerised Fischer-Tropsch liquid, wherein the isomerised Fischer-Tropsch liquid is combined with the isomerised Fischer-Tropsch wax to obtain a mixture of isomerised Fischer-Tropsch liquid and isomerised Fischer-Tropsch wax. Disclosed also is an apparatus for this method, which comprises feeding isomerised Fischer-Tropsch liquid and Fischer-Tropsch wax into a fractionation column.

EFFECT: technical result is broader capabilities of obtaining desired base stock and/or engine fuel from Fischer-Tropsch liquids and waxes.
