FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: use: for diagnostics of quality of laser welded seam made between two parts from plastic. Summary of invention consists in the fact that following stages: a) measuring a set of ultrasound attenuation values characterizing said laser weld by moving the ultrasonic sensor along said laser weld; b) calculating the weighted width Lp of said laser weld based on the pattern displaying the set of ultrasound attenuation values; c) comparing said weighed width Lp with a predetermined threshold weighted width Ls, wherein the weld is considered to be acceptable if the value of Lp is greater than or equal to Ls.
EFFECT: technical result is possibility of realizing non-destructive method of diagnosing quality of laser welded seam, the results of which can be related to results of monitoring using pyrometric system.
