FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to repair welded seams of a formed pipe shell with a thickness from 8 to 45 mm, a diameter up to 1,420 mm, obtained by laser or arc augmented laser welding. Sample of defective area is carried out within defined boundaries by plasma-arc cutting and filling it with a melting electrode on reverse polarity with extended protrusion, selected from condition of welding deposition in one pass. Welding deposition is carried out immediately after sampling of metal of defective area of welded seam, temperature of which has not reached its crystallization temperature.
EFFECT: method ensures minimization of heat input to a repair area of welded seam obtained by laser welding and reduces excavation size of defective area, it allows to repair inside a pipe shell while maintaining geometry of a welded seam in repair area and without reducing mechanical characteristics of weld metal.
