SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of controlling the lifetime of the magnetic field of magnetized plasma. System comprises a plasma generator for generating magnetized plasma, a stream retainer for receiving a compact toroid, a power supply for supplying a current pulse and a controller for active control of the pulse current profile in order to maintain a profile q of the plasma in a given range.

EFFECT: invention provides controlling the lifetime of the magnetic field of the magnetised plasma by controlling the current pulse current profile.
