SUBSTANCE: device includes a plasma accelerator with a funnel-shaped portion of a high compression ratio extending from the accelerator input and an elongated portion connected to the funnel-shaped portion of a high compression ratio which can be located between the end of the funnel-shaped portion and the accelerator output. The funnel-shaped portion may have a steep taper shape in the longitudinal section, while the elongated portion may have a more flat and smooth taper angle along its entire length in the direction of the output. The device also includes a power source for driving an acceleration pulse generating a pushing magnetic flux which accelerates and compresses the plasma torus over the entire length of the accelerator. The current pulse can be shaped so that its size behind the plasma torus at the output of the elongated portion is significantly smaller than the current pulse size at the first end of the elongated portion, and the pressure of the plasma torus at the output of the elongated portion exceeds the pressure of the plasma torus at the beginning of the elongated portion.
EFFECT: expanded operating capabilities of the device.
