FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrumentation and relates to a method of determining distribution by size and concentration of inclusions in partially transparent highly scattering materials. Method includes obtaining as experimental data of spectral coefficients of diffuse reflection or transmission of layers of material of known thicknesses. Distribution of inclusions by size is given in parametric form, and parameters of distributions are calculated by minimization of discrepancy function between spectral scattering factor, calculated by Mie theory, and spectral scattering coefficient determined by solution of inverse problem of radiation transfer. Result of solving the inverse problem is obtained by minimizing the discrepancy function between the experimentally measured coefficient of diffuse reflection or transmission and calculated from asymptotic formulas using radiation transfer theory for the reflection or transmission coefficient.
