FIELD: biotechnology; microbiology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for determining toxicity of samples containing oil products. Method includes incubation of test microorganisms Pseudomonas yamanorum VKM B-3033D in amount of 5×105 up to 5×106 viable cells per ml in a liquid nutrient medium for 10–20 hours at 15–25 °C in presence of tested samples and in their absence. Intensity of light (Iod), optical density (Auv) and intensity of photofluorescence (Iff) are measured. Total degree of activating or inhibiting (+/-) vital activity of test microorganisms by test samples is determined by formula: εs=(εIod+0.4εAuv+0.6εIff)/2, where εIod, εAuv, εIff is determined by formulas εY=100×(ΔYt-ΔYc)/ΔYc, where ΔY=Ye-Yb – differences of values Iod, Auv or Iff, recorded in beginning (Yb) and in end (Ye) incubation of test samples in presence of tested samples (ΔYt) and in their absence (ΔYc).
EFFECT: method provides objectivity of assessing toxicity of samples containing oil products.
