FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and microbiology. Disclosed is a method of determining bactericidal properties of substances. Method comprises incubation of test microorganisms Escherichia coli in amount of 5×105 to 5×106 of viable cells per ml in a liquid nutrient medium for 4–8 hours at 36–-38 °C in the presence of test substances and in their absence. Intensity of elastic light scattering (Iod), redox potential (E) and electric conductivity (X) are measured. Total degree of activating or inhibiting (+/-) vital activity of test microorganisms by test substances is determined by formula: εs=(εIod+0,5εE+0,5εX)/2, where εIod, εE and εX is determined by formulas εY=100×(ΔYt-ΔYc)/ΔYc, where ΔY=Ye-Yb – differences of values Iod, E or X, recorded in beginning (Yb) and at end (Ye) incubation of test samples in presence of test substances (ΔYt) and in their absence (ΔYc).
EFFECT: method provides objectivity of evaluating bactericidal properties of substances.
