FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: flywheel of variable moment of inertia comprises chamber (1) of cylindrical shape. On the inner butt-end surfaces of the chamber coaxially rigidly secured are cylinders of small diameter (5) and cylinder of large diameter (6). In inner cavity (7) there is cylindrical piston (10) rigidly fixed with rod (11). Annular piston (12) is located in outer cavity (9). Two radial vertical partitions (13) are located at equal distance from each other. Upper butt-end surface of the chamber has top holes (14) identical to that of the vertical partitions. Vertical rods (17) are rigidly fixed on lower surface of annular piston under vertical partitions. Space of inner cavity above cylindrical piston and outer cavity above annular piston are connected by upper channels (19) and filled with fluid. Space of middle cavity (8) is filled with atmospheric air. Volume of inner cavity is equal to volume of external cavity.

EFFECT: enabling adjustment of the moment of inertia of the flywheel without changing its rotation speed.
