FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the machine building. Flywheel of variable moment of inertia comprises cylindrical inner chamber rigidly fixed on lower and upper semi-axles. In the cavity of the chamber there is a piston rigidly attached to the control rod. Rod is located in the hole of the upper semi-axle. External cylinders are rigidly fixed between the lower and upper flanges on inner end surfaces of their peripheral part. Inside the cylinders there are external cavities in which external pistons are located. Pistons are rigidly fixed with synchronizing rods. All synchronizing rods are rigidly connected in their upper part by ring. Spaces of inner cavity above inner piston and outer cavities above external pistons are connected by upper channels and filled with air. Spaces of the inner cavity under the inner piston and the outer cavities under the external pistons are connected by lower channels and filled with a working medium, for example, a liquid. Volume of inner chamber is equal to total volume of external cylinders.
EFFECT: possibility of using the flywheel both for stabilizing rotation frequency and for controlling rotation frequency of working units.
