FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed system can include an exhaust pipeline hydraulically connected to the internal combustion engine through the exhaust manifold; first triple conversion catalyst (TWC-1) located below the internal combustion engine in the exhaust pipeline; SCR-HCT catalyst comprising a selective catalytic reduction catalyst and a hydrocarbon trap below the TWC-1 in the exhaust pipe; and the third catalyst is below the SCR-HCT combination in the exhaust pipeline, wherein the third catalyst includes a platinum group metal (PGM) for example in an amount effective for oxidising hydrocarbons. Methods of making and using such systems and components thereof are also provided.
EFFECT: disclosed is a system for cleaning emissions for a flow of exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine, which includes hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides.
