SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of treating a first liquid stream of furan containing furan and carbon monoxide, said method comprising steps of: i) contacting said first liquid stream of furan with a first CO-depleted gaseous stream comprising one or more gases from a group comprising hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water vapour and methane, and containing CO in amount of not more than 10 vol. %, wherein said contact occurs at temperature of not more than 150 °C and pressure of at least 0.2 MPa; and ii) sampling at least 90 % of carbon monoxide from a first liquid stream of furan to a first gaseous stream to obtain a second liquid stream of furan containing carbon monoxide in an amount less than the first liquid stream of furan and a second gaseous stream enriched in CO. Invention also relates to a method for synthesis of THF, NBA and/or 1,4-BDO, involving the following stages: i) contacting a first fluid stream of furan with a first CO-depleted gaseous stream containing one or more gases from a group comprising hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water vapour and methane and containing CO in amount of not more than 10 vol. %, wherein said contact occurs at temperature of not more than 150 °C and pressure of at least 0.2 MPa; ii) collecting at least 90 % of carbon monoxide from a first liquid stream of furan into a first gaseous stream to obtain a second liquid stream of furan containing carbon monoxide in an amount less than the first liquid stream of furan and a second gaseous stream enriched with CO; iii) contacting a second furan stream with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to obtain a stream of hydrogenation reaction products comprising THF, NBA and/or 1,4-BDO and hydrogen; iv) separating the stream of the hydrogenation reaction product into streams containing THF, NBA and/or 1,4-BDO, and a third gas stream containing hydrogen; and v) using at least a portion of said third stream containing gaseous hydrogen as a first CO-lean gaseous stream.
EFFECT: technical result is a method of purifying furan, which can be used in a subsequent hydrogenation reaction, from by-products, such as carbon monoxide.
