FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing furan, which comprises the following steps: i) contacting furfurol with a decarbonylation catalyst in a decarbonylation reactor to obtain a gaseous stream of a decarbonylation reaction product containing furan and carbon monoxide; ii) contacting said gaseous stream of a decarbonylation reaction product with a solvent stream containing furfurol; iii) absorbing at least part of furan, present in gaseous stream of decarbonylation reaction product, solvent flow to provide solvent-containing furan-containing stream and carbon monoxide-containing effluent; iv) separating furan from the solvent-containing furan stream by distillation to provide a first furan stream; and v) using at least a portion of the remaining solvent stream, containing furfurol, as at least part of furfurol fed into decarbonylation reactor.
EFFECT: technical result is a novel method of producing furan with high purity and output.
