FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detection of encoded light by means of a camera with an image capturing element, which captures light in line. Result is achieved by the camera capturing a scene image containing light from a light source, wherein the light from the light source is modulated with the encoded light component. Camera has an image capturing element which is divided into a plurality of lines, as a result of which, in order to capture an image, successive exposure of the lines at different moments in time is carried out. Processing module is configured to detect the orientation of the light source, as projected onto the image capturing element plane, relative to the image capturing element lines, and based on this determination of target device reorientation, so that light imprint from light source covers increased number of specified lines in image. User interface is configured to output an indication of target reorientation to the user, which forces the user to activate the target reorientation.
