MEDICAL INSTRUMENT FOR HIGH-DOSE BRACHYTHERAPY Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61N5/10 A61B5/06

Abstract RU 2689179 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, specifically to means for interventional brachytherapy. Applicator device is configured to insert into or near the analyzed region(s) within the living body and with the possibility of determining a lumen for receiving a radiation source, wherein the applicator device comprises one or more sensitive elements, each of which is located in a predetermined position and configured to generate an output signal indicating whether or not the radiation source is in a predetermined position in the lumen, wherein one or more sensing elements are one or more optical sensors; wherein each sensitive element comprises an optical radiation source in the lumen and an optical radiation receiver for receiving the emitted optical signal from the lumen, wherein the optical radiation source and the optical radiation receiver are positioned relative to each other such that the emitted optical signal either overlaps the optical radiation receiver or is redirected to the optical radiation receiver when the radiation source is in a predetermined position, wherein the optical signal received by the optical radiation receiver when the radiation source is in a predetermined position is different from when the radiation source is not in a predetermined position. Interventional brachytherapy system arranged to interact with the applicator device further comprises a detector unit for detecting an output signal generated by each of the one or more sensing elements. Data carrier is a part of the interventional brachytherapy system.

EFFECT: use of inventions enables reducing radiation of healthy tissue.
