FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of modified silica, to master batch of silica, to composition of rubber containing modified silica, as well as to tire containing said rubber composition. Method of producing modified silica includes steps of mixing mercaptosilane and silica with formation of hydrophobisated silica. Then hydrophobisated silica is treated with an oxidant. Similarly, method of producing a master batch of silica with modified silica includes steps, in which a solution of mercaptosilane and a silica suspension are mixed to form a suspension of hydrophobisated silica. Suspension of hydrophobisated silica is then treated with an oxidant to form a modified silica suspension. Said suspension of modified silica is mixed with rubber latex, then coagulated to form a master batch of silica. Also disclosed are rubber compositions and articles made using one of modified silica or a master batch of silica.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of producing modified silica.
