FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to beam diagnostics, cardiovascular surgery, and can be used to measure length of proximal neck of infrarenal aneurism of abdominal aorta. In patient's position lying in longitudinal scanning plane below renal arteries, beginning of aorta wall expansion is determined. Transverse ultrasonic section is used to define an upper edge of the left renal vein. Distance between the upper edge of the left renal vein and the beginning of the aneurysmal enlargement is measured. Obtained distance corresponds to the length of the proximal neck of the aneurysm.

EFFECT: method enables simple and accessible measurement of the length of the proximal neck of the infrarenal aneurism of the abdominal aorta in the patients with excessive body weight, with flatulence, as well as in emergency diagnosis by using the measurement of the distance between the upper edge of the left renal vein and the beginning of the aneurismal enlargement.
