FIELD: hydro acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydroacoustics and is intended for the classification of marine objects detected by their noise field. Method is applicable to a typical sound locating station, which receives a noise signal of an object with a hydroacoustic antenna, determining the direction to the object in the horizontal plane, automatic tracking of the object in the direction, determining the angular velocity of the object, determining the power of the received signal. When implementing the method, a classification characteristic is formed as a ratio of the power of the received signal to the angular velocity of the object, a threshold is formed for classification in current hydrological and acoustic conditions, a decision is made on the target class based on the comparison of the classification characteristic with the threshold.
EFFECT: it is possible to classify objects on the basis of the parameters measured by a typical sound locating station in the two-dimensional “noise” – “speed” attribute space, and the classification efficiency increases.
