FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a polymer which contains randomly distributed polyene and α-olefin links. Said method involves a) bringing ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbons which contain at least one polyene and at least one α-olefin, in contact with a catalyst composition which contains a catalyst activator and a complex defined by general formula

where M is group III metal atom; L is a neutral Lewis base; z is integer from 0 to 3 inclusive; m is integer from 1 to 5 inclusive; n is 1 or 2; each R1 is an electron-acceptor group or an atom or an electron-donating group or atom; and R2 is a mono-anionic X-type ligand, provided that R1-containing phenyl group is attached in 2nd or 3rd position of the indenyl ligand; and b) conditions for formation of said polymer from said ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbons.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain interpolymers containing polyene links and up to nearly 40 mol% ethylene links.
