SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of controlling crutches or a cane, comprising crutches or a cane responding automatically to a change in the distance from the handle of the crutch or cane to a portion of the surface on which the crutches or cane will be resting at the next position determined by contactless method by means of distance meter during previous position. Reaction to change of distance is change of length of crutches or cane during transfer from previous to next position.

EFFECT: application of the invention will make it possible to help patients or people with disabilities to walk, resting on crutches or walking stick.
