FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to oncology and radiology, and can be used for treating rectal cancer. That is ensured by the drug therapy. As drug therapy 1–2 hours before each session of brachytherapy Pentoxifylline 400 mg is administered once a day. Immediately after each session of brachytherapy, a gel-like mixture of Taxifolin and Coletex-gel-DNA is rectally introduced, taken at ratio of 1:10 respectively in amount of 50–100 ml.
EFFECT: method provides higher effectiveness and tolerance of the conducted radiation treatment with the achievement of the expressed tumor regression or its complete resorption, the possibility of the radical organ preserving operation, thereby increasing overall and recurrence-free survival by improving rheological blood properties, improving blood supply to tumor tissue with oxygen, preserving healthy organs and tissues from ionizing radiation by reducing edema, inflammation with simultaneous increase in radioprotection.
