METHOD FOR PLASTY OF NON-NARROW STERNAL DEFECTS IN STERN-MEDIASTINITIS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B17/00

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to reconstructive, plastic and aesthetic surgery. It is followed with resection of deformed and osteomyelitis affected sternal regions. Wound edges are treated with an antiseptic solution. Skin-fascial flaps of opposite orientation and cut out are formed taking into account anatomy of the main supplying vessels. Tamponade of the wound defect with de-epidermised skin-fascial flaps is performed without fixation of the flaps to the wound bottom, by staged closure of the flap edges with at least two rows of interrupted sutures. Total number of rows along the wound is not the same and depends on the thickness of the preserved sternum segment.

EFFECT: method allows reducing suppurative inflammation of the sternum, eliminating paradoxical respiration and pain syndrome, radically eliminating deep sternal defects with an area of more than 100 mm², arising as a result of sternomediastinitis of various aetiology.
