FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to foundry and can be used in making shell molds by molten models. Model unit is treated with a refractory suspension, wherein the first one or two layers are carried out using a hydrolysed ethylsilicate solution as a binder, and the filler is a pulverized silicon dioxide, wherein the next layers, support, are made using liquid glass as a binder, and as filler – dust-like silicon dioxide, with coverage of each layer with a granular material based on silicon dioxide. Process refractory material based on powdered carbonates or ammonium hydrocarbonates is added to refractory backfill material of support layers in amount of 5–10 wt% of the material of sprinkling, which increases crack resistance of support layers.
EFFECT: reduced labour input due to reduced number of production operations of shell molds with stability of quality of shells and casting.
