SUBSTANCE: field of application: electrical equipment. System comprises primary device (400) and secondary device (100), wherein primary device has pins (402, 404, 406) of electric contacts, made with possibility of formation of contact with electric contacts (302, 304, 306, 308, 310) on a secondary device, to enable exchange of power and data between the primary and secondary devices, wherein the primary device has n pins of electrical contacts, where n is a positive integer greater than two, and wherein the primary and secondary devices are configured such that pins of electric contacts of the primary device are configured to form contact with electrical contacts of the secondary device in a plurality of different predetermined relative orientations, several provided relative orientations include m differing electrical orientations, where m is a positive integer less than n, and wherein the primary device is configured to determine which of the m electrical orientations is a secondary device relative to the primary device, by comparing voltage values measured at least between m different pairs of electrical contacts on the secondary device , with recording values of voltage stored in memory in primary device.

EFFECT: possibility of correct alignment of power contacts and contacts for data on two devices without the need to use mechanical means to force two devices into one specific orientation relative to each other.
