SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric power units for vehicles. Traction electric drive of self-contained vehicle comprises synchronous generator, frequency converter with filter capacitor in DC link, autonomous voltage inverter, asynchronous traction motor, braking resistor, measuring units, active filter and control system. Active filter is connected through the measuring unit in parallel to the input terminals of the frequency converter, the output terminals of which are connected to the capacitor. Commutator is connected in series with the braking resistor. Control system is connected to measuring units, voltage sensor, active filter and autonomous voltage inverter.

EFFECT: higher energy performance of electric drive system.
