FIELD: instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of optical engineering, to the field of optical mirrors manufacturing, and can be used in the field of laser equipment, optoelectronics, information and power optics, in optical location and search systems. Method of making a mirror substrate from silicon carbide ceramic includes forming a workpiece of a substrate, heat treatment of the workpiece and subsequent impregnation of the workpiece with molten silicon, mixture for molding a workpiece contains a mixture of powders of silicon carbide and diamond in weight ratio of 0.8–10, and blank is formed by means of slip casting.
EFFECT: simple technique of making a mirror substrate and low labor input of its manufacture.
