FIELD: radiochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radiochemistry and radioecology and can be used to produce cesium sorbents. Method comprises neutralizing resorcinol with an alkali metal hydroxide solution, followed by oligomerisation of the reaction mixture by adding excess formaldehyde at temperature of 5–7 °C and continuous stirring. Liquid oligomer mass is added in small portions with finely dispersed calcium carbonate in amount of 8–12 % of weight of obtained sorbent and heated to temperature of 50–55 °C, providing the beginning of polymerisation and formation of hard gel, after which it is left for 24 hours in air at room temperature. Polycondensation of the obtained oligomeric resorcinol-formaldehyde mass is carried out at temperature of 190–210 °C for 2–6 hours. Polycondensation product is milled to obtain particles sized 0.5–1.0 mm, calcium carbonate is removed therefrom by successive treatment with nitric acid solution, then with an alkali solution, washed and dried.
EFFECT: high osmotic stability, chemical and mechanical stability of the sorbent with simple method of production.
