TISSUE THICKNESS SENSING SYSTEM WITH STAPLE CARTRIDGE Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B17/72

Abstract RU 2693365 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to surgical instruments for endoscopic, laparoscopic or robotic surgery. Surgical end effector for tissue treatment comprises a staple cartridge comprising a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the staple cartridge is configured to staple tissue within an optimum range of tissue thickness, a stop movably connected relative to the proximal end of the cartridge, a tissue thickness sensing module located adjacent to the distal end of the cartridge, a power switch configured to connect to the tissue thickness sensing module, wherein the tissue thickness sensing module comprises a cover for protecting elements of the tissue thickness sensing module, a sensor configured to generate a signal indicating the thickness of the tissue between the abutment and the staple cartridge, and controller in communication by signals with sensor, wherein controller comprises identification means for determining type of staple cartridge, wherein controller is configured to use cassette-type signal and a tissue thickness signal to determine the tissue thickness finding in the optimum tissue thickness range and to generate a status signal indicating the compliance of the measured tissue thickness to the optimum range for the staple cartridge, wherein the controller is configured to maintain the tissue thickness perception module in a low power state condition while the power switch is connected to the tissue thickness sensing module, and wherein the controller is configured to switch the tissue thickness sensing module from the low power state to the active state when the power switch is disconnected from the tissue thickness sensing module. Staple cartridge for use in a surgical suturing instrument for tissue treatment comprises a body with staples, staples configured to be stored inside the body with staples, a module for sensing tissue thickness and a power key. Module for sensing tissue thickness for connection to surgical staple cartridge configured to treat tissue comprises a casing for protecting elements of a tissue thickness sensing module, a sensor configured to detect a magnetic field and generate a signal, a controller in communication by signals with a sensor, a transmitter in communication by signals with a controller, a power supply configured to supply power to the controller and transmitter.

EFFECT: using the group of inventions enables expand the range of surgical stapling devices.
