FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a process for the dehydrohalogenation of a chlorinated or fluorinated organic non-polymeric compound using a catalyst comprising an ionic liquid of formula [Cat+] [X-], where [Cat+] is an organic cation of one or more types selected from (i) phosphonium-type cations, (ii) ammonium-type cations, and (iii) heteroaromatic cations containing N or P atoms in the aromatic ring, wherein the ring may refer to the type of imidazole, pyridinium, pyrrolidinium, benzimidazole, phthalazinium, piperidine, pyrrolium, quinazolinium, quinoline, isoquinolinium, indolinium or indolium; and [X-] is an anion of one or more types.
EFFECT: technical result is a stable degree of conversion with a high selectivity of more than 95 %.
