where R1-R3 are similar alkyl groups having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, R4 is different from R1-R3 and has C4-C12 carbon atoms, and X represents a halogen. The invention also relates to a catalyst, which is an ionic liquid intended for the reactions between olefins and isoparaffins to generate an alkylate.

EFFECT: use of the said ionic liquid does not require extreme reaction temperatures.
