FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting engineering and can be used to reduce heating and ionisation time of mercury vapour in lamps when they are switched on, providing higher uniformity of power of ultraviolet light flux during a session of irradiation at an individual level required for a consumer in equipment used in beauty salons, tanning studios, as well as in physiotherapeutic rooms of medical and preventive institutions. At each next switching on of mercury lamps the timer takes into account the time of cooling pause between switching on and previous shutdown. If the pause was greater than or equal to the duration of lamp cooling time to ambient temperature, high voltage is applied to lamps, which conducts forcing lamp heating, evaporation of mercury and its ionisation. Timer is set duration of boost, which provides intensification of processes of heating, evaporation and ionisation of mercury, reducing transient mode output power of lamp light flux to operating level. That way quality of service delivery to consumer is increased by value and level of received radiation dose.

EFFECT: technical result is reduction of power consumption and increase of power indices of installation with mercury lamps.
