SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the computer equipment. Method of contextual search in multimedia content, comprising: extraction of domain elements associated with multimedia content; generating, for overwriting a query, rewriting versions based on the extracted domain elements and terms in the query; providing options for rewriting a query into a search mechanism; quantitative assessment of query rewriting versions based on characteristics of result sets obtained as a result of said grant; ranging query options based on their quantitative indicators; overwriting a query based on a possible version of rewriting a query with a specific rank; providing a set of results from a search mechanism based on a rewritten query.
EFFECT: technical result is high efficiency of contextual search in multimedia content.
