SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technical means of performing search in multiple sources. Method comprises steps of: identifying a partial search query; evaluating user signals to identify a user's search intent; identifying a first content source providing first type content associated with the partial search query; identifying a second content source providing second type content associated with the partial search query; assigning a first rank of relevance to the first content source based on the user's search intent; assigning a second relevance rank to the second content source based on the user's search intent; in response to the relevance threshold being exceeded by the first ranking of relevance, formulating a first query proposal based on the first content source and the partial search query; if the relevance second rank does not exceed the relevance threshold, formulating a second query proposal based on the second content source and the partial search query; providing a first query clause and not providing a second query clause.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of formulating query proposals for queries to multiple sources.
