SUBSTANCE: invention relates to entertainment in transport. Entertainment system for a vehicle comprises a server, which stores media files and smart monitors. Each smart monitor provides a selection of media content corresponding to media files, and receives input of request from passengers for reproduction of selected content. Each smart monitor has a storage device for storing content, in which a subset of media files is stored. Network connects the smart monitors and the server. Program logic executed by each smart monitor performs tasks containing determination whether a media file corresponding to query input is available from a first source, and if available, a media file is reproduced from a first source; if the media file from the first source is unavailable, determining whether the desired media file is available from the second source, and if available, playing back the media file from the second source; and if the media file is unavailable from the second source, determining whether the media file is accessible from the third source.
