FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallographic analysis and analysis of materials with respect to determination of non-uniformity distribution of particles of disperse phases in sheet metals and alloys. Method involves obtaining metallographic specimen, its etching for detecting phases, then using metallographic optical or electron microscope image of microstructure of representative volume of material (grain or cross-section area of sample). At that, 6 arbitrary straight lines are drawn on the image to boundaries of representative volume, next inclusions of disperse phases are marked along each line, they are connected by broken line, after that lengths of sections of broken line are found, for them probability curve is constructed, which is asymmetric curve with maximum, according to obtained data, most probable value of distance between disperse phases is calculated, which is equal to most frequently repeated value of distance between particles, dispersion of values of measured distances between disperse phases, and taking into account maximum curve height at most probable value of distance between disperse phases, index of non-uniformity of distribution of phases is determined from given design relationship.

EFFECT: high reliability of evaluation.
