FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a device for determining characteristics for determining characteristics of scintillation material, particularly for a PET sensor. First radiation source irradiates the scintillation material with the first radiation with wavelength less than 450 nm. Second radiation source irradiates scintillation material with pulsed second radiation with wave length of more than 600 nm and with pulse duration equal to or less than 50 s, wherein the detection device detects the third radiation from the scintillation material during and/or after irradiation with the second radiation. Third radiation depends on the number of charge carriers captured on electronic defects of the scintillation material, so that it can be used as an indicator of the number of electronic defects and therefore for determining characteristics of the scintillation material.
EFFECT: technical result is shorter time and simple method of determining characteristics of scintillation material.
