FIELD: electrical communication engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of transmitting data in a well via an electromagnetic communication channel. In particular, a method of transmitting data from a well tool to a location on a surface, which includes measuring property in a wellbore by means of a well tool in a wellbore. Casing string is located inside well, and well tool is located below at least part of casing string. Digital frame is generated by a well tool. Digital frame includes information corresponding to the property. Digital frame is encoded to superimpose information on the carrier signal. Carrier signal is converted into voltage difference, which is generated by insulating layer in well tool. Voltage difference causes current flow through underground formation to casing string above well tool. Magnetic flow generated by current flowing through the casing is detected by a sensor which is located at least partially inside or at least partially around the casing string.
EFFECT: expansion of arsenal of technical means for signal transmission in well.
