FIELD: fire-fighting systems.

SUBSTANCE: device for fire extinguishing with steam is intended for quick elimination of ignition sources inside the process vessel, operating at atmospheric pressure and at working medium temperature higher than 100 °C. Current fire extinguishing systems make it possible to quickly eliminate ignitions within process units and apparatuses, but have the following drawbacks: fire-extinguishing substances and compositions (foam, inert gas, powder) require special equipment for preparation, storage, maintenance and initialization for direct application; fire-fighting modules based on said substances are structurally sophisticated and often are disposable; when extinguishing inflammations with said substances, as a rule, the entire contents of the process apparatus deteriorates. Existing steam extinguishing installations receive steam from steam boilers constantly in hot standby. This is technically difficult and unprofitable. Proposed invention provides fast elimination of ignitions within closed volume of process equipment by steam, formed from overheated water contained inside tightly closed vessel of said device, with sudden reduction of pressure inside it to atmospheric pressure. To operate and maintain the proposed device, a steam boiler or a separate steam main is not required. Maintenance of high temperature and pressure of water inside the device is carried out due to heat of the working medium. Device is reusable, and fire extinguishing substance is cheap and harmless.

EFFECT: device for fire extinguishing by steam is proposed.
