FIELD: fire-fighting.
SUBSTANCE: claimed solution relates to fire-fighting equipment, namely, to a method for preventing combustion of batteries and compartments therewith in transport, as well as to the effect of cooling accumulator batteries. Substance of the claimed invention consists in increasing the fire protection of compartments with accumulator batteries in transport and to the removal of excess heat from accumulator batteries. Accumulator batteries or battery units are located in a sealed container including a pressure relief valve. A gas non-conductive fire-extinguishing agent - halocarbon (e.g.: fire-extinguishing agent FK-5-1-12, freon 114B2) in the liquid phase is poured in the sealed container with accumulator batteries so that the entire volume of the container is filled. When the accumulator batteries are overheated, the gas fire-extinguishing agent withdraws excess heat, and when the pressure is increased, the pressure relief valve is actuated. In the event of thermal breakdown or damage to the accumulator battery, the gas fire-extinguishing agent prevents a possible combustion, thereby ensuring fire protection of the compartment with accumulator batteries in transport.
EFFECT: creation of a method for fire protection and cooling of accuumlator batteries and compartments therewith using a non-conductive gas fire-extinguishing agent - halocarbon (e.g.: fire-extinguishing agent FK-5-1-12, freon 114B2) in the liquid phase with low pressure of saturated vapours in normal conditions.
